Wonjen C. Bagley started her career in Social Work in the field of public health working closely with underserved populations over twenty-five years ago. She comes from a family of educators and has been a lifelong advocate for quality education for all and eventually joined her interest in working with underrepresented families with her passion for education full-time. Her experience in established and start-up nonprofits includes opportunities serving as a volunteer, board member, mentor, and staff. She formerly worked strengthening diversity and inclusion initiatives at an independent school in Massachusetts and for an education access nonprofit whose mission sparked the idea to launch similar programming in Chattanooga. Wonjen holds a bachelor’s from the University of South Florida and a master’s degree in Social Work from Florida State University. She and her husband William have 2 children.
Rebecca Suttles has been the Director of Scholarships at the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, Inc. for over 13 years. In this position, she primarily works with first generation college students, but gladly helps anyone interested in going or returning to college. Prior to joining the Foundation, she worked as the Program Manager at Girls Incorporated in Chattanooga and within the juvenile justice system in Lynchburg, Virginia.
It was a college summer internship over 20 years ago when she realized she wanted to focus her life’s work on underserved children/adolescents. Upon her return to school that fall, she had a second internship with the juvenile justice system in Lynchburg, VA; it was that internship which further confirmed her passion to work with students and forever changed her life. Since graduating from Lynchburg College, she has continuously worked with and advocated for underserved students. Through her most recent work with the Chattanooga Bridge Scholars program, she will have the opportunity to reach younger audiences. Throughout the years, she has served on several nonprofit boards. Rebecca is married to Chad Suttles, Sr. and has three stepchildren.
